Privacy Policy
SalaryToHourlyCalculator.us (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have when you use our free salary to hourly calculator and the guides published at salarytohourlycalculator.us. We have written this policy in plain language because we believe you should be able to understand exactly how your data is handled without wading through legal jargon.
The single most important thing to know is this: the salary and hourly figures you type into our calculators never leave your device. Every conversion, overtime estimate, and take-home projection is computed locally in your web browser using JavaScript. We do not receive, see, log, or store the income data you enter. There is no account to create and no personal profile attached to your calculations.
1. Information we collect
We collect the minimal information necessary to operate, secure, and improve our service. This falls into two categories.
Automatically collected technical data
Like almost every website, our hosting provider and analytics tools record standard server-log and usage data when you visit. This may include:
- Anonymised or truncated IP addresses
- Browser type, version, and language
- Operating system and device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Pages visited, time spent on each page, and navigation paths
- The referring URL (the page or search that sent you here)
- General geographic region (typically country or state level)
This data is aggregate and statistical in nature. It helps us understand which salary guides are useful, how the site performs, and where visitors run into problems. It is not used to build an advertising profile about you as an individual.
Information you choose to provide
If you email us or reach out through our contact page, we receive whatever information you include — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to you. We do not add contact emails to a marketing list or share them with third parties.
Calculator inputs are never collected. The numbers you enter to convert a salary to an hourly wage, estimate overtime, or project take-home pay are processed entirely in your browser and are discarded the moment you close or refresh the page.
2. How we use the information
The limited data we collect is used only for legitimate operational purposes:
- To maintain and improve calculator performance, speed, and accuracy
- To understand which salary guides and features are most helpful so we can prioritise updates
- To diagnose technical issues, fix bugs, and prevent errors
- To protect the site against spam, abuse, and security threats
- To respond to questions or feedback you send us directly
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not use your data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
3. Cookies and analytics
We use standard, privacy-respecting web analytics to understand site-usage patterns. These tools may set cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to measure anonymous metrics such as page views, session duration, and navigation paths. Cookies help us tell a returning visitor from a new one in aggregate, but they do not reveal your identity to us.
You are always in control. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you can use private/incognito browsing to prevent cookies from persisting. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use our salary calculator or read any of our salary guides — the tools run locally regardless.
4. Third-party services
To deliver a fast, free service we rely on a small number of reputable third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Analytics providers: for anonymous, aggregate traffic analysis so we can improve the site.
- Advertising partners: we may display non-intrusive advertising to keep our tools free. Ad partners may use cookies to serve relevant ads in accordance with their own policies. We aim to keep advertising unobtrusive and never let it interfere with your results.
- Hosting and content-delivery providers: our pages and fonts are served by established, U.S.-based infrastructure providers that apply standard security practices.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites we link to, such as IRS.gov or BLS.gov. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
5. Data retention
We keep technical and analytics data only for as long as it is useful for the operational purposes described above, after which it is deleted or fully anonymised in the ordinary course of our providers' retention cycles. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to resolve your query and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence.
6. Children’s privacy
Our service is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@salarytohourlycalculator.us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including:
- The right to access the information we hold about you
- The right to request correction or deletion of your data
- The right to opt out of analytics tracking
- The right to object to or restrict certain processing
- California residents: additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to opt out of any “sale” of personal information (we do not sell your data)
- EU/UK visitors: rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR where applicable
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@salarytohourlycalculator.us. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Data security
Our site is served over SSL/TLS encryption, so connections between your browser and our servers are encrypted in transit. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because calculator inputs never leave your device, the most sensitive data — your income figures — is never at risk on our servers in the first place.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted here, and your continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
10. International visitors
Our website is operated from the United States and is intended primarily for a U.S. audience. If you access the site from outside the United States, please be aware that any technical data collected may be processed and stored on servers located in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing. Where local law grants you additional rights — such as under the GDPR for visitors in the European Union or the UK — we will honour valid requests to the extent those laws apply to us.
11. Do Not Track and cookie choices
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry-wide standard for how sites should respond to DNT, we do not currently alter our behaviour based on the signal. You can, however, achieve strong privacy simply by declining cookies, using private browsing, or installing a reputable ad- or tracker-blocking extension. None of these steps will interfere with the core calculators, which run entirely in your browser.
12. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@salarytohourlycalculator.us or visit our contact page. We take privacy concerns seriously and will do our best to address any question or request promptly. See also our Terms and Conditions and Disclaimer for the full picture of how our site operates.
